“Do you promise?”

I get this question a lot at the end of readings. Do I promise that everything is going to be ok? that they won’t lose their job, love, or life? Do I promise that they’re being paranoid?

Yes. I promise. Sometimes.

As a reader, you have to expect to be asked about this. Are you sure that the thing that you said is actually going to happen. Well, yes. Sometimes, I am absolutely sure. The difference between Promise and No Promise is free will. Instinct. All of those delightful things that we can’t define and can’t predict, really.

If I give a reading for someone and they ask, “Am I going to get laid off from my job?” One of three things usually happens.

  1. I ‘hear’ my guides or the Universe or whatever say “Fuck yes, she is” in my head. Loud.
  2. I put down a card that says, “Absolutely.”  Three of Swords, Ten of Swords, Death
  3. I don’t know, and the cards aren’t clear.

I’ve been doing readings long enough to feel absolutely confident in saying “I promise” if the first two things happen. Allowing for free will and the Universe doing what it does in an unpredictable manner as in all things, there’s a really, really high percentage of truth in either 1 or 2.

If the third thing happens, I’m honest. I say no, I don’t know what’s going to happen, but let’s look at these cards around that decision and talk about whether you want to stay in this job or not. What can you do? Where does your power lie?

At the end of the day, the reading is not about promises. It’s about strength, and making sure that the client knows that they have it.
