The Cups suit in the tarot is about emotion. How it flows through us, how it can drown us if we’re overwhelmed. How we can’t breathe when the waters get so high that they cover our mouth and nose. Our electrical system of a brain shorts out when the emotional waters get too high and we start relying on our lizard brain to make decisions. Oof.
They also represent the blessings that come to us. The Universe gifting us with just the right person in our life. The connections we have with friends who have become heart family. The Cups embody all of the tapestry of the human condition, and stress the need for balance. As much as we love our emotions, they don’t get to drive unless they’re moderate. They get to sit in the back seat and listen to their podcast and have a snack.
For Well, Cynova, I’m going to use my daily card pulls of Cups to see how my emotions are doing. I definitely eat my feelings sometimes, especially now that i don’t have cigs. I don’t want to beat myself up for this, but I want to be aware of what triggers unhealthy behavior and see if I can’t find something to put in its place.
The Inauguration is tomorrow and I know that tensions are super high. Just a reminder to take good care of yourself and to take time off of the internet. Here is a prayer that helps me stay centered when things are rough. Take care of you and those you’re in charge of.

Keep my anger from becoming meanness.
Keep my sorrow from collapsing into self-pity.
Keep my heart soft enough to keep breaking.
Keep my anger turned towards justice, not cruelty.
Remind me that all of this, every bit of it, is for love.
Keep me fiercely kind.
