I have know Karin for about twenty years, which is a crazy long time for someone to put up with me. She’s this amazing kitchen witch and artist and crafty person. We had a conversation about a month ago about tarot soap, and she’s already got them listed in her Etsy shop! There is a bar of soap for each of the suits, and she’s considering a type of soap for each of the Major Arcana, too.
Karin researched each of the suits and aligned the ingredients to line up with the element of each suit. So, Pentacles are the Earth element card, and has shea butter, rosemary, chamomile, honey and allspice. She’s researched the herbs and applied her witcheries and created these beautiful things. I’m so impressed with artists. There is something innately magical about turning an idea into an actual, tangible thing. Karin impresses the hell out of me, and has made something wonderful.
You can find her soaps in her Etsy shop, and can read about how she created them on her blog, here.
Thanks, Karin! I ‘lobe’ you.

Tarot Questionnaire Thinger:
1. What you appreciate the most in your friends.
Honesty, laughter, creativity, space, tolerance
2. Your idea of happiness.
A comfortable home with a great hearth, friends and family who are happy and well, enough money (plus a little extra, okay a LOT extra, why lie), small town, critters underfoot
3. Your idea of misery.
Constant noise, movement, light, input, crowds, sound, etc. No rest, no quiet.
4. Where would you like to live?
I think I’d like to live in a cottage in the woods. Modest-sized, large hearth, excellent wi-fi, a really soft mattress, lots of animals, an herb garden and a magic closet that never empties of monster drinks, double-cream brie, bras that fit perfectly and (why not) fifty dollar bills. And maybe it’s in the woods behind the house in Practical Magic because I want that house more than cake.
5. Your favorite colors and flowers.
Earth tones, fire engine red toenail polish, daisies, purple coneflower, Johnny Jump Ups
6. Your favorite poets.
Edgar Allen Poe, Emily Dickinson, Shel Silverstein, Fezzik
7. Your heroes/heroines in fiction.
The support staff. The characters who are not in the spotlight most of the time, but are instrumental to the story – Watson (Sherlock Holmes), Wash (Serenity/Firefly), Butters (Dresden Files), Luna Lovegood(Harry Potter), Samwise Gamgee (LotR), etc.
8. Your heroes/heroines in real life.
Anyone who makes an honest effort to better their own or someone else’s world. We are all potential heroes.
9. What is your present state of mind?
Cluttered, creative, slightly confused, forgetful, excited, lazy, peaceful, curious, what?
10. What is your favorite tarot deck or divination tool?
I’m not a consistent diviner, so I’d have to say the Rider Waite tarot deck I recently bought. I had one moons ago, but I never took the time to learn the process or get to know the cards. This time I will.
11. Your favorite songs?
Current favorites are “Gimme Chocolate” (Baby Metal), “Uma Thurman” (Fall Out Boy), “Roundtable Rival” (Lindsey Stirling) and “Ex’s and Oh’s” (Elle King), but they change constantly.
12. What is your favorite word?
Witch.
13. What is your least favorite word?
Rear wheel drive. I just can’t say it without going all hooked on phonics. If I try to just say it, you’ll hear, “Ree-uh wee-uh drive.” We hates it.
14. What sound or noise do you love?
Laughter, bacon frying
15. What sound or noise do you hate?
Fingernails on a chalkboard, ice cream truck, my alarm clock, dentist drill
16. What turns you on? What turns you off?
Secret. 🙂
17. What is your favorite curse word?
I try to be creative, but it usually boils down to “motherfucker” or “shitshitshit.”
18. If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
“We cleared your browser history.”
