Pop Goes the Tarot

Not today. – Arya Stark #GoT #tarot

The second edition of the CinemaTarot Game of Thrones thinger.  Now we talk about the Starks, and their transformation from a family who did things as they were supposed to be done, into a family that did what they had to when “supposed to” went all to hell.  And we know who’s fault that was, right?  Yeah.  It was Bran’s.  The little punk.

Brandon Stark - The High Priestess - In this story, Brandon more than anyone can be seen as a tool for the Gods.  Old or new.  Bran is so little when the story begins, but has such an integral part.  If he hadn't been climbing, he wouldn't have been pushed.  If he hadn't been pushed, he wouldn't have fallen into a coma.  If he hadn't fallen into a coma, he might not have begun having visions.  The visions part - that's what makes him the HP.  Bran's visions and dreams, his traveling into the mind of his direwolf and skinchanging are all gifts that lead him to the three eyed crow.  Meera and Jojen and the three-eyed crow are all drawn to him, and I have a feeling his story is just starting.

Arya Stark - Page of Swords - if Bran is being shaped by the Universe, then Arya is shaping herself to fit the many changes her Universe goes through.  She is a bratty younger sister, a tomboy, a fledgling swordsplay student, a boy, a refugee, a servant - she is all of these things.  She alters herself in order to survive.  I was considering the Page of Wands for Arya, because she is always on the move, but I think that her mental acuity and strength lend her more towards the Swords.

Sansa Stark - The Queen of Cups- Sansa has a terrible reputation, but I actually really like her.  As with the other Stark kiddos, things are done TO her.  She grows up like a princess, literally expecting a white knight to rescue her.  She's a good girl, she does her chores and listens to her mother.  She does everything she's supposed to, and things still fall apart.  I see a lot of her railing away, whining and otherwise acting completely oblivious as one thing - denial.   She firmly believes that IF she does these things, and IF she acts this way, THEN she will get what she's supposed to have.  It isn't until recently that she stops seeing herself as a set decoration and starts acting in such a way to take care of herself.  I think that Sansa is interesting, because her annoying, foot stomping self is the Queen of Cups inverted, and when she walks down the stairs looking like a boss, you can see the Queen of Cups upright, ready to take care of business.

OH – Cat Stark – Death.  I have to say, Catelyn is one of my favorite characters.  She’s tough and loving and fought off someone who tried to stab her little boy with her BARE HANDS LIKE A BOSS.  She doesn’t wait to be told what to do – she just DOES.  I think that Cat is Death because she is an agent of change.  Whether others are watching or not, she is always paying attention.  (and if this were about the book, I could talk more about how Death is appropriate for this lady, but damnit damnit)

 

Robb Stark – King of Cups – Robb is truly king-like.  He is fair, he’s a good warrior, he is impartial when it comes to his family.  His heart is the thing, however, that gets in his way. He loves who he loves.  More than his war, more than his kingdom, and more than his family.  He wants what he wants.   And gets arrows in his everything because of it.  Womp WOMP.

 

Eddard “Ned” Stark – King of Pentacles – There is a cool thing about the suit of Pentacles. They’re about being grounded.  You can imagine the pentacles being on the ground and helping you align with your surroundings.  Ned is one with his land.  He is respected and loved by his people and family.  He has the respect of the King and the adoration of his kiddos.  Isn’t that nice.  The other thing that he has is the downside of the Pentacles.  If you are TOO grounded, you miss things.  You spend so much time looking at where you are, you forget to look up and see what’s going on around you.  Ned has a lot of honor, sure, but he’s also as dumb as a box of hair when it comes to intrigue.  Very interesting character, but unfortunately, too stuck to see what was going on around him.

ASTERISK!!!!! 

I’m going to add Jon Snow onto the Stark Clan, even though he’s TECHNICALLY a bastard and knows nothing.  Because I feel like it.

 

Jon Snow – Page of Pentacles – I think that Jon hasn’t quite reached the stage of Knight or King like the other guys.  He’s very thoughtful and introspective, and he seems to be developing emotionally and socially a little slower than the others.  He’s the same age as Robb, but I can’t imagine him ruling or leading an army.  Jon is learning how to be himself.  How to live in the constraints that he was born into, and how to be more like his father.  He chooses his friends wisely and finds excellent counsel.  He is definitely grounded and is growing up well.

Rickon Stark – Seriously, has anyone seen Rickon and Shaggydog lately?  I have no idea for this kid.
