I received the Lunar Nomad Oracle from Weiser Books, and for a second, had a bit of a hissy. I don’t historically like oracle decks, and I can’t read Lenormand (yet) and this deck is a bit of both (Lenoracle?) What I didn’t expect, though, was the instant connection I felt with the deck. The artwork is beautiful and the size of the cards make it necessary to be deliberate while handling them. I had a reading one night and was at a friend’s house. I realized that I’d left without a tarot deck, and used this instead. The reading was spot on, and the client really connected with the art. Well done, Shaheen.

LFT Questionnaire
1. What you appreciate the most in your friends.
I appreciate the diversity of my friend circle. People inspire me, and when you get to know people on an intimate level… their dark and light, it really changes how you see the world. The support, love and commitment that my friends and I share with one another is powerful. We create space for each other to support our healing, empowerment and magic in the world.
2. Your idea of happiness.
Happiness is an internal state. For me it feels like freedom to express and create. When I have the space within myself to be unapologetic about who I am and what I feel… I am happy. And, I try to provide that same space for other people. My personal practice is centered on magical living and cultivating a positive and empowering way of life through my thoughts and actions.
3. Your idea of misery.
Blah! I don’t like the idea of misery. Misery to me is being told what to do, being caged into someone else’s truth.
4. Where would you like to live?
I am a nomad. So I want to be everywhere and nowhere all at the same time. If I am being practical, I am happy where I am. But I am always longing to see something new.
5. Your favorite colors and flowers.
I have a love of clothing and a background in Fashion… so colors reflect mood. But maroon and black are my top favorites… the essentials. Peonies are my favorite flower. They make me think of home.
6. Your favorite poets.
My favorite poet is Stevie Nicks! If you don’t see her music as poetry… then you haven’t listened to the words. If you allow yourself to step into her little world you’ll be changed.
7. Your heroes/heroines in fiction.
The Aunts from Practical Magic! Talk about living their truth! I intend to be that free someday.
8. What role does divination play in your life?
Divination is a way of life. The world is filled with infinite opportunities to connect with the divine. As a practice, it is a way to hear my inner voice, connect with my deep wisdom and find purpose and clarity. I use divination as a type of path working to align my energies and manifest my intentions. When I work with clients I see it as an act of creative collaboration where they get to hear, witness and connect with their inner voice and take ownership of their personal journey.
9. Your heroes/heroines in real life.
My real life heroines would be the women in my life. I’ve been blessed with so many powerful women sharing their gifts and stories with me. My mother would be the on that stands out the most. She is the bravest person I know. She’s experienced so much loss and heartache, and yet she has a heart of gold and would do anything for someone in need. She has always allowed me to be exactly who I am, and that is a priceless gift.
10. What is your present state of mind?
My mind is a wild place! Right now I am contemplating how to bring magic to the world… how to take it to the streets where people can really use it. Everyday I am dreaming on how to be empowered and how to empower others.
11. What is your favorite tarot deck or divination tool?
Do I have to pick! The first deck I choose for myself was the Zerner-Farber Tarot and even now I find it profound. The artwork is stunning and I’ve always felt like it shaped me in some strange way from my own work as an artist and my experience in fashion design. The Playing Card Oracles by Ana Cortez is another deck that feels like part of my soul. And, of course, The Lunar Nomad Oracle because it has a piece of my soul in every image and it taught me so much about exploring my own Lunar side.
12. Your favorite songs?
Music is a big influence for me. But I would say my favorite song is Blue Lamp by Stevie Nicks. It’s a song about loss of innocence and finding power and purpose in the world. Learning to trust yourself. Woven into her raspy vocals is a tinge of vulnerability that we have all felt at some point in our lives.
13. What is your favorite word?
Ooh… I would say MAGIC. That has to be my favorite word.
14. What is your least favorite word?
I don’t think I have a least favorite word.
15. What sound or noise do you love?
The sound of my cat purring is one of the most healing sounds I’ve ever experienced.
16. What sound or noise do you hate?
My alarm going off in the morning! I’m not a morning person.
17. What turns you on?
I am turned on by creativity, dreaming and images. Anytime I get to see something come to life in the “real” world I get lit up!
18. What turns you off?
Rules! My Aquarian spirit hates rules and being told what to do.
19. What is your favorite curse word?
I love them all! But Badass has been a good mantra and movement lately.
20. If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
Haha… I hope God is a woman and the gates look more like disco-balls. I’d be satisfied with a simple… “Welcome back!”
