My little guy – who is 9 – asked me to teach him how to read tarot cards a few weeks ago. I quickly gave him the deck he was gifted when he was born (The Baseball Tarot) and promptly burst into tears. Yeah, I’m that mom.
Boy Child is exceptionally sensitive to those around him, and seems to have inherited his mother’s gifts. Girl child (10) has, too, but she’s an Aquarian and said she’ll deal with them when she’s older and is in the mood. Ok, then. There’s a reason we call her Little Stalin.
Anyway, so he’s been playing with his cards here and there, and this morning, we started talking about the Fool. First card in the tarot. He gave me permission to blog about this, too. Because he’s just cool.
I pointed out the main features of the card. The Fool is walking along, happy, content. He’s about to do what?
“Walk off a cliff like a doofus!”
Yeah, but is he scared?
“Nope. He’s not afraid at all. And the sun is shining, so everything will be ok. This is not a bad card.”
You’re right! It’s a good card. What do you think this card is trying to tell us? Can you tell me three things?
“Believe in yourself. Keep going. Don’t be afraid”
Good job, kiddo. I think you’ve got it.
