I think that the key to the Hierophant is this – underneath all of those fripperies and layers is the Truth. You have to work to get to the Truth. You have to search to find the Keys – and then you open the door and there’s usually another door waiting for you. It’s never easy, and it’s always going to leave you with more questions than answers, which is the point, really.
The Tarot MixTape Playlist jam for the Hierophant was chosen by the lovely and gifted Theresa Reed. She can be found on Facebook and at www.thetarotlady.com. Did I mention the Tarot MixTape Playlist has guest DJ’s? Because it totally does.
Theresa‘s Choice: AntiPope by the Damned –
AntiPope by the Damned – The Hierophant is about tradition, cultural values, spiritual leadership, teachers and mentors. I grew up in a strict Roman Catholic household and although I didn’t have a bad church experience (I had a fantastic priest), I found the people who went to church to be hypocrites – including my parents. They’d be bowing before the priest and acting pious just like in this tarot card but then go home and be absolute bastards. The same kids who were cruel to me at school were the most angelic ones in the choir every Sunday. AntiPope by The Damned is a cheeky song that brilliantly pokes fun of the Sunday goody goody bullshit facade.
